Fall brings with it so many flavors reminiscent of the season, pumpkin and apple desserts high on the list. But this Maple Cinnamon Apple Crisp is a must in everyone’s recipe collection. Nothing tastes quite like fall than a warm apple crisp!

Maple Cinnamon Apple Crisp

Apple Crisp Reinvented!

This recipe elevates the classic apple crisp with a caramel sauce that coats the apples prior to baking them. Tossing the apples with butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar bakes into a caramel sauce that is an amazingly delicious contrast with the tart apples. Maple syrup brings together all of the warm fall flavors perfectly.

Maple Cinnamon Apple Crisp

Tart apples work best in this recipe. I love taking my kids on an excursion to pick apples early in the season, when McIntosh and Gala apples are just ripening. We pick a few pounds of Gala to eat and McIntosh to bake with. Granny Smith, Golden Delicious or even Gala work well in this recipe.

I prefer to peel my apples prior to baking. The peels do not cook down well and impact the overall texture of the dessert.

This recipe is so easy to prep and bake, it will become a staple Autumn dessert in your house. All days should end with something sweet in my opinion!

Maple Cinnamon Apple Crisp

This dessert is best served warm. Vanilla ice cream compliments the warm apple, cinnamon goodness perfectly for a dessert that tastes like fall.

I love the size of this recipe. It is perfectly portioned to be eaten within the first day or two. The crisp is only crispy for a couple of days, and no one wants a soggy dessert!
