Tips for Success!
I prefer a nice, slightly tart apple for this recipe, typically those offered early in the apple season. Jonamac or MacIntosh are my favorites, but use other varieties and they will be just as yummy!
Peeling the apples is definitely recommended. Having peels in the bread disrupts the nice rich texture!
Bringing the ingredients to room temperature helps ensure they incorporate into one another. This will also help create a smooth creamy cheesecake without any lumps.
I sometimes add another tablespoon of flour to the cinnamon streusel if the butter does not completely combined with the ingredients. If not well absorbed, it can create a greasy effect to the top of the loaf.
Allow the bread to cool until almost completely cooled. Removing from the pan too soon will cause the bread to fall apart.
Treat Yourself!
This is certainly not diet food! Loaded with cream cheese and rich ingredients…you deserve the indulgence!

- ¼ TSP Nutmeg
- 1 TSP Baking Soda
- ½ TSP Salt
- ½ Cup Butter Softened
- ½ Cup Unsweetened Apple Sauce
- 3 Eggs
- 1½ Cups Sugar
- ½ Cup Brown Sugar
- 1 TSP Vanilla Extract
Cheesecake
- 8 oz. Cream Cheese Room Temperature
- ½ Cup Sugar
- 1 TSP Vanilla Extract
- 1 Egg Room Temperature
Cinnamon Streusel
- 4 TBSP Butter Melted
- 4 TBSP Sugar
- 2 TBSP All-Purpose Flour
- 2 TSP Cinnamon
Instructions
Apple Bread Batter
- Preheat oven to 325°F. Lightly spray two 9×5 loaf pans with non-stick spray and set aside.
- Peel and dice approximately 3 large apples into small pieces. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a stand mixer, cream together the butter and sugar and brown sugar. Add applesauce, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix together until completely combined.
- Slowly add the dry ingredients into batter a ½ cup at a time. Mix until all ingredients are completely combined. Batter is thick.
- Add the diced apples into the batter and mix throughout batter with a wooden spoon. Divide into 4 equal parts and set aside.
Cheesecake Batter
- Add cream cheese, egg, sugar and vanilla extract into a bowl and whip together with a hand mixer until smooth and creamy.
- Divide in half. Set aside.
Cinnamon Streusel
- In a small bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, cinnamon and flour and mix well.
- Divide in half and set aside.
Putting it Together
- Add one quarter of apple bread batter to each loaf pan. Spread evenly.
- Top each with divided cheesecake batter. Spread evenly over batter.
- Top each loaf with remaining batter and spread carefully to not disrupt cheesecake layer.
- Dollop cinnamon streusel onto surface of batter and carefully swirl around top.
- Bake in oven at 325°F for about one hour and 5 minutes then begin to check the loaves. The centers will appear set and a toothpick inserted into the center will come out cleanly when the bread is done.
- Allow to cool on a rack for about one hour. Slide a knife around the edges of the pan and carefully invert the pan to allow the bread to fall out.
- Slice and enjoy. Share a loaf if you can resist eating both yourself!
Live fully. Eat well. Bake goodies.
